Resiliency Program Enables Clinicians to Meet First Responders’ Unique Mental Healthcare Needs

GoMo Health® Will Present this Life-Saving Tool During a Webinar July 8, 2025

Mercerville/Asbury Park, NJ, June 19, 2025: Mental health conditions affect approximately 20% of the general population, but among first responders, that number rises to 30%. This disparity underscores the urgent need for targeted support, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in its Disaster Technical Assistance Center Supplemental Research Bulletin: First Responders – Behavioral Health Concerns, Emergency Response, and Trauma (2018).

To help behavioral health professionals address the unique challenges of first responders, GoMo Health developed a personalized digital engagement solution designed to augment traditional care models. GoMo Health will present this tool during a free webinar on July 8, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. hosted in partnership with the New Jersey Association of Mental Health and Addiction Agencies (NJAMHAA).

First responders face significantly higher risks of depression, chronic stress, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), suicidal ideation, and substance use in response to repeated exposure to traumatic events and their aftermath. Irregular work hours compound these challenges, often leading to persistent sleep difficulties. Over time, poor sleep can further erode mental health, creating a cycle that’s difficult to break
without support.

“We are proud to be longtime partners with GoMo Health. The digital therapeutics have been proven to be extremely effective for the individuals receiving mental healthcare and substance use treatment and for the clinicians who provide this care,” said Debra L. Wentz, PhD, President and CEO of NJAMHAA. “GoMo’s expertise and innovation are proven through all of its programs that are tailored for different populations. This newest version for first responders will undoubtedly be equally effective.”

“As someone who spent many years in the field as a first responder, I understand the unique mental health challenges this population faces. I approached our CEO with a simple request: let’s take the lifesaving behavioral health work we’re already doing and tailor it specifically for first responders. He agreed — and gave me the opportunity to assemble a dedicated team of experts to bring that vision to life,” said Gary Pollack, Senior Vice President of GoMo Health.

“The result is the First Responder Resiliency Program, a comprehensive support tool that is available 24/7 and offers in-the-moment, confidential support for police officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, corrections officers, military personnel, and their loved ones,” Pollack explained. “It’s designed to complement any existing wellness protocols, helping responders safeguard their mental health, manage daily demands, and give them the confidence, inner peace, and resiliency to continue to enjoy their everyday.”

First responders, behavioral healthcare providers, community support professionals, and those who serve on the front lines of care are encouraged to learn more during the July 8th webinar.
NJAMHAA and GoMo Health will present the webinar, On the Frontlines of Healing: Behavioral Health Solutions to Build First Responders’ Resiliency, on July 8, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. EST.
