GoMo Health Joins City, University and Business Leaders to Collaborate on Connecting Newark Residents

Newark is taking the necessary steps toward becoming a Smart City as part of a sweeping White House initiative that brings together academia, government and business to innovate and create the next generation of urban technology and infrastructure. For communities like Newark, these solutions would permeate all parts of the city experience for residents, daytime workers and visitors. GoMo Health has been selected as a business to be a part of the Newark Smart Cities program in the healthcare sector.

On Monday, October 17, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the atrium of the NJIT Campus Center, GoMo Health was in attendance to celebrate Newark’s journey to become a Smart City. Speakers at the event included:

  • Thomas Motyka, Senior Executive Director, Smart Cities Innovation
  • Ben Levine, Executive Director, MetroLab Network
  • Dr. Don Sebastian, President, NJII
  • Baye Adofo-Wilson, Deputy Mayor for Economic and Housing Development, City of Newark
  • Paul Wilford, Director of Video Research, Nokia
  • Seth Wainer, CIO, City of Newark

Also unveiled at the event was a city-funded Internet kiosk named “Brand Newark.” It is a powerful Wi-Fi hub that will provide residents and visitors with the latest news and information on local businesses, traffic, mass transit schedules, local news, videos and more.

GoMo Health, along with eight other corporate partners, will be working in the MetroLab@Newark program. GoMo Health will be creating Healthy Cities, the healthcare component of the Newark Smart Cities initiative.
