WellCare of Nebraska Baby’s First Program: December 14 Declared as Pelican Day

WellCare of Nebraska was honored by Nebraska’s Lt. Gov. Foley, who delivered a proclamation from Governor Pete Ricketts declaring Dec. 14 as “Pelican Day” in Nebraska, and urging all new parents to access resources like WellCare’s Baby First program for information to help raise healthy babies.

WellCare of Nebraska’s Baby’s First program was designed by GoMo Health to help improve mother and infant health and provide resources for those families in need. The program was developed using Personal Concierge™, a part of the Concierge Care® suite of solutions. Personal Concierge a virtual care coordinator that offers interactive, personalized guidance to patients and members through their healthcare journey.

STATE OF NEBRASKA PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, Thirty-five percent of Nebraska’s babies are born and cared for under the Heritage Health Plan every year; and

WHEREAS, Education and resources are vital to every parent who is welcoming a new child to their home and learning from their baby’s first experiences; and

WHEREAS, The world is technologically advanced, providing new and innovative ways to assist new mothers with accessible information and guidance; and

WHEREAS, History claims that the mother pelican will harm herself to provide sustenance for her babies, exemplifying a strong and protective mother figure who puts her babies first; and

WHEREAS, The Baby’s First Program was developed to support mothers and assist in raising healthy Nebraska families.

NOW, THEREFORE, I Pete Ricketts, Governor of the State of Nebraska, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM the 14^th day of December, 2017 as

PELICAN DAY

In honor of all the babies and mothers in Nebraska, and I do hereby urge all citizens to take due note of the observance.
